The Bayelsa State Government has commenced the construction of a Science and Technical College at Oporoma, headquarters of Southern Ijaw Local Government Area in the State.
Inspecting the project sites at Oporoma, the Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah noted that the land mark new project commenced this year 2026, as construction work is progressing smoothly at various sites which incudes; ICT Centre, Teachers Quarters, Hostel blocks, Classrooms etc.
Dr. Emelah commended the State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, for his passion for educational development in the State.
He added that as a policy in the education sector, the prosperity administration is laying more emphasis on technical, entrepreneurial and vocational education and not just mere paper qualifications in a bid to producing school leavers with practical skills to put food on the table.
The Commissioner therefore, restated his Ministry’s commitment to bringing the lofty vision to reality.
