…Conducts Special Valedictory Session
As part of activities marking the burial rites of the late Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, the Bayelsa State Executive Council received his remains at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Yenagoa.
The State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, led a special valedictory session in honour of the departed Deputy Governor. In his remarks, Governor Diri described the late Ewhrudjakpo as a reliable partner who shared in the vision of building Bayelsa State over the past six years.
The Governor, flanked by his wife, Justice (Mrs.) Patience Ama Diri, while condoling the Ewhrudjakpo family and Bayelsans over the loss, thanked the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the Deputy Governors’ Forum for their solidarity during this difficult time.
“We shared a common vision — the vision of advancing and building Bayelsa State.
Together, we sought to translate that noble vision from mere words into reality through policies, programmes, and projects touching education, infrastructure, health, human capital, and peacebuilding across our communities.
“On behalf of the Government of Assured Prosperity and the people of Bayelsa State, I extend our deepest condolences to the widow of our Deputy Governor, his children, and the entire Ewhrudjakpo family. While the State has lost a leader, you have lost a husband, father, brother, and pillar of support.
“We pray that God Almighty grants his family and all of us deeply impacted by his sudden passing the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss,” Governor Diri stated.
Highlights of the valedictory session included tributes from the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, delivered by its Chairman and Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak; the Deputy Governors’ Forum, delivered by Ikechukwu Emetu; the Head of Service of the Federation, Dame (Mrs.) Didi Esther Walson-Jack; the Deputy Governor of Abia State; members of the Bayelsa State Executive Council; and other dignitaries.
