The Bayelsa Commissioner for Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, paid a working visit to the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training, Elebele, where he was warmly received by the Rector and management staff of the institute.
The tour took the Commissioner through key facilities including classrooms, workshops and administrative blocks, showcasing the Institute’s strength to deliver quality vocational and entrepreneurial education.
Dr. Gentle commended the institutes’ management for its commitment to youth empowerment and practical skills development, noting that the facilities align with the state government’s vision for human capital development.
He encouraged the management to prioritize high standards while assuring them of government’s interest in strengthening vocational education across the State.
In his remarks, the Rector, Dr Zuobomudor Edwin Agbana expressed appreciation for the Commissioner’s visit and highlighted the institute’s expectations for government support in the accreditation of some priority academic programmes, which would enhance the institute’s capacity to train students for both local and global opportunities.
He also solicited for the intervention of the Ministry in securing hostel accommodation for incoming students, including those sponsored by Bayelsa state Peace Initiative, an offshoot of search for common ground funded by the European Union; a Non- Governmental Organization.
The visit ended on a positive note, with a promise of the Government to fully support the development of the Institute with world-class facilities aimed at ensuring a holistic facelift that will reposition it as a leading skills and vocational training hub.
