…Synergise for Collaborative and Purpose-Driven Mechanism in Bayelsa’s Primary Education Sector

Okolobiri, Bayelsa State – The newly inaugurated Executive Secretaries and Chairmen of the eight Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities have met with the Executive Secretary of the Bayelsa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. (Chief) Victor Okubonanabo, to chart new pathways for collaboration and effective service delivery in the State’s primary education sector.

The strategic meeting, held in Okolobiri, focused on strengthening coordination, communication, and the implementation of work plans that will enhance quality education in Bayelsa’s primary schools. Discussions also highlighted the urgent need to improve infrastructure, provide modern learning facilities, and prioritize the welfare of teachers and staff across all LGAs.

Hon. Okubonanabo charged the newly appointed Secretaries—whose appointments took effect on September 4, 2024—to be punctual, progressive, and committed to their mandate, stressing that their leadership must reflect the Prosperity Government’s vision for stabilising and advancing the primary education system in the state.

The leaders collectively agreed to work towards a shared vision of providing quality education, building a strong foundation for pupils, and ensuring that the sector contributes meaningfully to Bayelsa’s future. They further emphasised the importance of accountability, transparency, and good governance in the management of funds and resources allocated to primary education.

At the close of the meeting, participants described the engagement as productive and purposeful, laying the groundwork for stronger synergy between the Local Government Education Authorities and SUBEB. The leaders resolved to remain committed to initiatives that will benefit pupils, teachers, and communities while ensuring that each newly inaugurated Secretary takes full charge of day-to-day activities in their respective LGAs.
