…as Fallen Officer Laid to Rest in Yenagoa
Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Idu, has confirmed the arrest of six suspected cultists linked to the brutal killing of Constable Goodluck in Amarata, Yenagoa. He further disclosed that the prime suspect, already wanted for multiple murders, remains at large but assured that he would be apprehended soon.
Speaking during the service of songs and lying-in-state of the late officer, the Commissioner vowed that all perpetrators of the attack would face justice. He strongly cautioned against violent acts targeting police personnel, stressing that the Nigeria Police Force would deploy every available means to defend its officers and uphold the law.
The Commissioner paid tribute to the bravery of Constable Goodluck, who was killed while confronting seven armed hoodlums in the line of duty.
“Constable Goodluck acted within the law and paid the ultimate price for protecting society. The Force will not relent in seeking justice for his death,” he affirmed.
As part of efforts to honour the fallen officer, the Commissioner announced plans to formally request Governor Douye Diri to designate the site of the killing as a monument in memory of Constable Goodluck’s sacrifice.
On behalf of the bereaved family, Comrade Kwokwo Robert, representing the Ayadei/Oboh family, expressed gratitude to the Police Authorities for their support during the burial rites and reiterated the family’s call for justice in the killing of their son.
Constable Goodluck’s burial drew emotional tributes from colleagues, family, and community members, who described him as a courageous officer whose life and service embodied dedication to duty and the pursuit of peace.
