The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training (IEVT), Elebele, recently, received a delegation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) on a Resource Visit for accreditation and verification exercise.
The visit was aimed at assessing the Institute’s preparedness, facilities, equipment, academic structures, and overall compliance with NBTE minimum standards for technical and vocational education delivery.
Welcoming the delegation, the Rector of the Institute, Dr. Zuobomudor Edwin Agbana, expressed delight over the visit, describing it as a critical step towards strengthening institutional standards and ensuring quality assurance in the training of students.
Dr. Agbana noted that resource visits of such nature are key to foregrounding institutional values, enhancing academic credibility, and positioning the Institute for sustainable growth and national recognition.
He emphasized that NBTE standards remain non-negotiable, adding that the exercise was not only an assessment but also a platform for guidance and constructive engagement geared towards institutional improvement.
According to him, the Institute remains open to corrections and professional recommendations that will help it align fully with national requirements, stressing that the management of IEVT is committed to partnering with NBTE in advancing technical education and human capacity development in Bayelsa State.
In her response, the Team Lead of the NBTE delegation, Dr. Mrs. Fatima Kabir Umar, commended the Institute for the level of progress recorded so far, noting that the environment reflects commitment towards achieving accreditation success.
Dr. Umar, however, urged the Institute to urgently replace some equipment that had been vandalised, stressing that NBTE does not compromise standards, especially as it relates to functional facilities and equipment required for effective teaching and practical training.
She explained that the accreditation and verification process is a major component of ensuring that institutions deliver quality, hands-on training that meets industry demands, and encouraged the Institute to intensify efforts towards meeting all requirements ahead of the final accreditation.
The NBTE team thereafter inspected key facilities within the Institute, including workshops, laboratories, classrooms, and administrative units, while interacting with relevant staff to verify documents, training structures, and operational readiness.
The visit ended on a positive note, with the Institute reaffirming its commitment to meeting NBTE expectations and sustaining quality vocational and entrepreneurship training for the benefit of youths and the overall development of Bayelsa State.
