The Bayelsa State Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Investment, Dr. Ebieri Jones, has advocated for the effective promotion of the non-oil sector in the state.
Dr. Jones made the call while speaking at an interactive session on facilitating access to export finance for SMEs in the non-oil export sector, organised by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) at the Federal Secretariat Complex, Yenagoa.
The Commissioner, who declared the programme open, admonished exporters and intending exporters to ensure they have the required documentation and sufficient off-takers to enable them access export finance.
Dr. Jones further urged participants to take advantage of available opportunities provided by commercial banks to expand their export businesses, noting that government’s responsibility is to create an enabling environment and provide critical infrastructure for businesses to thrive.
The programme, themed “Unlocking Export Financial Opportunities for SMEs Growth in Nigeria,” had in attendance the Bayelsa State Coordinator of NEPC, Mrs. Sylvia Adeneye, representatives of BOI, NEXIM Bank, UNDP, CBN, SMEDAN, NASME, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, UBA, exporters, and other stakeholders.
