Bayelsa state Commissioner for Education Dr Gentle Emelah recently paid a working visit to the state owned College of Health Technology, Otuogidi, in Ogbia local government area of the state.
Breifing newsmen at the end of the tour, the Commissioner noted that the Institution which was established in 2005 with the mandate to providing opportunities for qualitative health and technological education in a serene and conducive learning environment to eligible Nigerians, was recently faced with numerous challenges including accreditation of her programs making products of the Institution unsuitable for the labor market.
” Today the Senator Douye Diri led ASSURED Prosperity administration has changed the fortune of the College with new structures and well equipped laboratories to meet modern teaching and practical learning” .
The Commissioner, during the visit inspected facilities including the newly constructed structures housing various departments namely; Department of Pharmacy Technician Studies, Paramedic Technology, Physiotherapy and Gymnasium, classrooms among others equipped with state of the art facilities for practicals, sporting and physiotherapy.
He also inspected the Dental Demonstration Clinic fully equipped with state of the art technological equipments for dental services like flossing, fillings, tooth wash, scaling and polishing among other services.
The visit ended with a visit to the Metrological Survey Centre with tools to monitor and predict weather conditions, measure rainfall among others.
He commended the Provost, Professor Timipa Ogoun for driving the new era of the College truly translating the ASSURED Prosperity administration’s vision of technological education to reality.
” We shall continue to ensure Governor Diri’s commitment to educational development of our dear State is clearly visible for all to see “.
