Extols Qualities Of Dame (Mrs) Didi Esther Walson-Jack As She Retires.
The Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri in company of his wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, recently joined eminent Nigerians, senior citizens and top public servants from Bayelsa State to honour a worthy daughter of Bayelsa State and a distinguished public servant, the retiring Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dame (Mrs.) Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, at a presentation of two of her books, ‘I Planted: A Memoir of Purposeful Service’ and ‘Beyond the Mandate’, documenting her 34 years of illustrious service to the nation.
The Governor in his brief remarks acknowledged the presence of former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Dame Patience Jonathan, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Udeh, who represented President Bola Tinubu, his colleague from Borno State, Professor Babagana Zulum, Rivers State Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, former Bayelsa state deputy governor, Rear Admiral Gboribiogha John-Jonah (rtd), National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and others.
As the Chief Presenter of one the books ‘I Planted: A Memoir of Purposeful Service’, he reflected on his working relationship with Mrs. Walson-Jack during her service as Chief of Staff, Government House under H.E Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
He attested to her resilience, diligence and integrity in office.
He also acknowledged in her, his first-hand experience of the discipline, the intellect, and the quiet strength she brought to governance in Bayelsa State.
” She was the calm in the storm, the memory of the administration, and the conscience that reminded us that every decision must serve the people.
As she exits the Federal Civil Service after thirty-four years of unexampled and meritorious service spanning Rivers State, Bayelsa State, and the Federal Civil Service, we do not mark an end. We mark a transition from active service to enduring legacy.
These books document the seeds of faith, hard work, and integrity that Mrs. Walson-Jack sowed from her early days in the Civil Service. The text and tone of the books indeed bear a striking resemblance to their author: measured, graceful, principled, and deeply rooted.
These books are more than a personal recollection, it is an archive of the formative years of our State — a record of those who cleared the grasses, dug the foundation, and put frameworks in place capable of outliving the individual who established them.
While I appreciate Mr. President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for appointing Mrs. Walson-Jack, to the position in August, 2024, we are most delighted that she has served the country with an unblemished record.
As a state, we are extremely proud of her accomplishments, and on behalf of the government and people of Bayelsa, I extend warm congratulations to Mrs. Walson-Jack for being an outstanding ambassador of our state and the Niger Delta.
I dare say, Bayelsa is proud of you, a worthy daughter of the Ijaw nation. You planted in Rivers and Bayelsa States. You watered in Abuja. And God in His grace has increased the work of your hands. Today, the whole nation gathers to witness the harvest — a harvest that will continue to feed generations long after the applause in the hall has faded.
Congratulations once again, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack. May God continue to bless you and keep you, for more years of greater service to our state and our country,” he concluded.
