Diri Congratulates DCP Debekeme on Promotion

The Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, on Tuesday, 1st April 2026, decorated Bayelsa-born DCP Samuel Ebikebina Debekeme following his recent promotion to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The Governor congratulated the Ndoro-born senior police officer from Ekeremor Local Government Area on his well-deserved elevation, describing the promotion as a testament to hard work, dedication, and professionalism in service.
Speaking during the brief but significant ceremony, Governor Diri commended DCP Debekeme for his commitment to duty and urged him to remain steadfast in the discharge of his responsibilities.
“I congratulate you on your promotion. It is a clear indication that hard work, discipline, and diligence always pay off. I encourage you to remain committed and continue to serve with integrity,” the Governor stated.
Governor Diri further used the occasion to call on Bayelsans in public service to remain focused, resilient, and dedicated in their respective careers, noting that excellence and perseverance would always attract recognition and reward.
“I also want to encourage our dear Bayelsans in various careers to stay committed and diligent in their duties so they can reap the fruits of their labour,” he added.
The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries, including the Leader of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Monday Bubou Obolo; the Coordinator of the Bayelsa Community Safety Corps, Gen. Eric Angaye (Rtd.); the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16, Johnson Adenola; the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Iyamah Daniel, as well as other senior government and police officials.
The event underscored the state government’s continued recognition and celebration of excellence among its indigenes serving in critical sectors across the country.
