Yenagoa, Bayelsa State – The Management and Staff of the Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs have celebrated the retirement of Mr. Collins Ifidi, Permanent Secretary, after years of meritorious service in the Bayelsa State Civil Service. The event, which also coincided with his birthday, was held in his honour to mark his successful career and distinguished contributions.
The colourful send-forth ceremony was graced by dignitaries, including the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Thompson Amule; the Head of Bayelsa State Civil Service, Dr. Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer (represented by Mr. Yela Joseph Alagoa, Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Training & Pension Bureau); the Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Perekeme Bertola (PhD); as well as Permanent Secretaries from various ministries, Directors, Chairmen of Rural Development Authorities (RDAs), senior aides, colleagues, friends, and well-wishers.
In their tributes, speakers described Mr. Ifidi as a committed public servant whose dedication and professionalism left an indelible mark on the civil service. His leadership, humility, and collaborative spirit were highlighted as traits that contributed to the growth and efficiency of the Ministry.
Responding, the celebrant, Mr. Collins Ifidi, expressed gratitude to God Almighty for His guidance and protection throughout his years in service. He also appreciated his beloved wife, Mrs. Stella Ifidi, for her unwavering support, and extended heartfelt thanks to the Honourable Commissioner, Directors, Management, Staff, RDAs’ Chairmen, friends, and well-wishers for honouring him.
“I am deeply humbled by this outpouring of love and appreciation. I pray that celebrations will never cease in your homes,” he said.
The event was not just a farewell but also a celebration of legacy, service, and new beginnings, as colleagues and associates wished Mr. Ifidi well in his future endeavours.
