Schools Supervision Tour

…………..charges teachers to be duty conscious.

In continuation of the drive to ensure quality compliance in schools across Bayelsa State, the Management of Bayelsa State Post Primary Schools Board visited more Twelve (12) schools in Yenagoa and Kolokuma-Opokuma Local Government Areas of the State.

Truant Teachers in the two Local Government Areas who were absent from their duty posts have been directed to report to the Board Headquarters to face query for being absent without permission.

The Director of Human Resources Management (HRM)/Director covering the duties of the Executive Chairman of the Board, Barr. Kevin Lafieghe, slammed the truant teachers for being absent without permission and sounded the riot act stating that the routine monitoring visits to public schools by the board is non-negotiable.

Barr. Kevin Lafieghe averred that the policy is in line with the Prosperity Agenda of the Governor Douye Diri-led administration to give priority to basic and secondary education, hence the need for teachers to always be at their duty post.

“Teachers must justify government’s investments in them by making sure they are in classes as of when due to impact knowledge to the students.

Ensuring that this target is achieved and it’s why the board has been set up to supervise and monitor schools effectively”, he added

Barr. Kevin Lafieghe frowned at the unprofessional conduct of some teachers who were not in duty at the time of the visit.

He ordered that the absentee teachers not found at their duty posts in Twelve (12) Secondary Schools in Yenagoa & Kolokuma-Opokuma Education Zones should report to the Board Headquarters to answered their queries on why they were not at their duty posts as when his team on inspection were present.

The PPSB Directors used the medium to cross check the attendance registers and duty roasters to ascertain teachers daily compliance documentation to duty.

1) Community Secondary School, Okoloba

2) Community Secondary School, Sabagreia

3) Opokuma Grammar School (O.G.S)

4) Opokuma South Secondary School, Akaranbiri, Opokuma

5) Government Girls Secondary School, Kaiama

6) Government Secondary School, Odi

7) Community Secondary School, Nedugo

8) Government Girls Secondary School, Okolobiri

9) Community Secondary School, Obunagha

10) Community Secondary School, Koroama.

11) Community Secondary School, Polaku

12) ECHS Tombia.
