The Bayelsa State Government has concluded the first phase of its Website Content Development and Management Training Programme, with a strong call for sustained digital engagement across ministries, Departments and Agencies in the state.
Speaking at the end of the two-week training programme held at the Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology in Yenagoa, the Commissioner for Communication, Science and Technology, Engr. Gibson Edwin Munalayefa, urged participants to put their newly acquired skills into action by consistently updating their respective ministry websites with relevant content.
The Commissioner emphasized the critical role of digital platforms in promoting transparency and public access to government activities.
Engr. Munalayefa expressed concern over the current underutilization of ministry sub-domains, many of which, he noted, still lack basic content such as the profiles of Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries.
The Commissioner announced that the training is part of the digital transformation agenda mandated by His Excellency, Governor Douye Diri, to ensure all ministries are equipped to communicate effectively with both the Nigerian public and the international community.
He reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding the programme, noting that more ministries will be included in subsequent batches.
As part of the closing ceremony, six HP laptops and six MTN wireless routers were presented to representatives of the participating ministries as part of the necessary tools to effect their new assignment.
Certificates of participation were also awarded to all trainees.
Also speaking, the Ministry’s Head of ICT, Mr. Pulotua Edward, commended His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri for giving approval for the noble the initiative in the state .
He called on all ministries to embrace full digital integration, adding that an active and functional website is a vital tool for promoting good governance and showcasing Bayelsa State’s achievements.
The first batch of beneficiaries from the training includes the following ministries:
Ministry of Information, Orientation and Strategy
Ministry of Communication, Science and Technology
Ministry of Transportation
Ministry of Works
Ministry of Health
Ministry of Agriculture.
