His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, this morning received an 11-man accreditation team from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) led by Deputy Registrar of the Council, Dr. Nnaemaka Nwakanma, at his residence in Government House, Yenagoa.
The team is in Bayelsa State to inspect facilities at both the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island and Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa for the purposes of accreditation of more programmes in the two institutions.
Senator Diri, who acknowledged the kind words of Dr. Nwakanma on the investment of the government in the health sector, said the current administration would continue to improve facilities in the schools to increase admission quota.
Among those in attendance were the Commissioner for Health, Professor Seiyefa Brisibe, Vice Chancellor, Niger Delta University, Prof. Allen Agih and Vice Chancellor, Bayelsa Medical University, Prof. Dimie Ogoina.
