…Reiterates Bayelsa’s Cordial Relationship with the Military
The Bayelsa State Governor, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, received the 23rd Chief of Air Staff of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at Government House, Yenagoa.
In his remarks, Governor Diri congratulated the Air Chief on his recent appointment, describing it as well deserved. He noted that Bayelsa State has remained a fertile ground for senior military officers who serve with dedication and integrity, many of whom have gone on to attain higher responsibilities in the nation’s armed forces.
The Governor emphasized that the relationship between the Nigerian Air Force and the Bayelsa State Government has been cordial and mutually beneficial, adding that the synergy between both institutions has contributed significantly to the sustenance of peace and security in the state.
Describing the visit as a homecoming, Governor Diri stated “Your visit today is a homecoming for us, and we open our arms to receive you. You served this state with integrity while you were here as Air Officer Commanding the Mobility Command. You worked in partnership and synergy with the Government and the good people of Bayelsa State.
“We are proud that God has made it possible for senior military officers who served here diligently to be rewarded. In Bayelsa, we believe that when you serve the people and government faithfully, God sees it, and the reward for good service is more service.”
Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, before his appointment as the 23rd Chief of Air Staff, served as the Air Officer Commanding the Mobility Command in Yenagoa.
The visit further reinforced the existing partnership between Bayelsa State and the Nigerian Air Force in promoting peace, stability, and development.
