The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, ESV Moses Teibowei, has expressed satisfaction on pace of construction work in Nembe-Brass Road.
The Commissioner stated this following an on-site inspection tour to the ongoing 21-kilometer first phase of the Nembe-Brass Road project.
The Commissioner during the visit, highlighted the impressive milestone achieved by the contractor – Setraco Nigeria Limited – stating that he was “very happy” with the level of progress recorded so far.
According to him, key milestones achieved in the project include: the completion of sand filling across the entire 21km stretch; sand-cement stabilization which has advanced to kilometer 15; stone base preparation completed up to kilometer 13.5 and 6 kilometers of asphalting already achieved, shows a clear sign of entering the final pavement phase.
He also said, the first bridge has been fully completed while bridges 2, 3 and 4 are about 90 percent completed and as well piling actively ongoing for the fifth bridge, with construction simultaneously progressing on five additional bridges.
The commissioner was particularly encouraged by the fact that the remaining five bridges are shorter, with an average length of about 40 meters, which he said, will help accelerate completion.
“I strongly believe that vehicles will be able to drive through to St Nicholas River by the end of this year,” Teibowei affirmed, underscoring his confidence in meeting the ambitious timeline.
He reiterated Governor Douye Diri’s unyielding commitment to the transformative project and other infrastructural developments across the state, aimed at connecting riverine communities and unlocking economic potentials in Bayelsa East and the state in general.
While praising Setraco for the remarkable achievements to date, the commissioner urged the firm to deploy more personnel to sustain the momentum for timely completion.
The Commissioner was accompanied by Engr. Apurumelala Cliff-Eribo (Director of Civil Engineering, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure) and ESV Francis Mumeya (Director covering the duties of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Survey).
