Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has challenged Bayelsa United F.C to bring home the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season trophy and pick a continental ticket.
Governor Diri, was speaking at the end of watching the United’s first home game against Barau FC at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, which ended 2nil in favour of the home side.
The Governor who expressed satisfaction with the team’s performance congratulated them for starting the season on a positive note with an away win against Shooting Stars in Ibadan and a convincing 2 – 0 victory against Barau F.C. at home in Yenagoa.
He promised the team a brand new coaster bus if they continue to make the state proud and announced a two million naira thank you package for the coach and players heartwarming display in their first home game.
He also passed a vote of confidence on the new club tactician Monday Odigie stressing that he knows the coach will do his best to deliver the job and directed that Odigie be signed on immediately.
