Bayelsa Drug Committee Prepares Nembe LGA Teachers for Implementation Of School-based Drug prevention Programme.
A two-day orientation exercise for implementation of a school-based drug prevention programme for adolescents, termed UNPLUGGED, was conducted on Thursday, July 24 and Friday, July 25, 2025, for teachers of five secondary schools in Nembe Local Government Area, by the Bayelsa State Drug Abuse, Addiction Prevention and Rehabilitation Committee (BADAPARC) in line with expectations of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The schools that participated were Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Government Girls Secondary School and Community Boys Secondary School all in Nembe-Bassambiri as well as Nembe National Grammar School and Community Girls Secondary School in Nembe-Ogbolomabiri.
The team from BADAPARC comprising Pharm. Dr. Charles Ronari and Pharm. (Mrs) Charles Oyintari, provided relevant information and materials required for implementation of the programme as schools get set to resume in August, for a new session.
The government of Bayelsa State led by His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, with the active support of the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, remains committed to preventing drug misuse, especially among young people, as a key strategy in curbing the menace of drug abuse.
