During the inspection, the Governor was received and conducted round the facility by the Managing Director of the Bayelsa State Electricity Company, Engr. Olice Kemenanabo. He was shown the newly installed switch gears and other civil engineering works that are preparatory to the arrival and installation of the gas turbines. Governor Diri expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the ongoing work, commending the technical team for their professionalism and commitment to meeting project timelines.
Governor Diri reiterated that the gas turbine project remains a top priority for his administration, as it directly aligns with his Prosperity Agenda to boost infrastructure and improve the standard of living for residents. He noted that uninterrupted power supply is key to industrial growth, job creation, small business sustainability, and improved security across the state.
Addressing newsmen at the site, the Governor assured the people of Bayelsa State of his government’s determination to deliver the project as promised. He maintained that the completion of the gas turbine will mark the beginning of a new era of 24-hour electricity supply in the state, stressing that the project is not just about infrastructure but also about empowering communities and stimulating economic growth.
Governor Diri further called on residents to continue supporting the policies and programs of his administration, assuring them that the gas turbine initiative is only one among several transformative projects underway. He emphasized that with consistency, accountability, and collective effort, Bayelsa State will overcome its developmental challenges and emerge as a model of progress and prosperity in the Niger Delta.
